Our favorite indie/post-disco/pop troubadours are back with a new release! Jacuzzihidive returns with a refreshingly refined sound, employing a bit more a organic vibe, riding a high of shimmering vintage synth, guitar arrangements, and grooved-out rhythms perfect for ushering in the summertime. A slight departure from their 2010 release of Night Creatures, their new Single+B-Side “Something Good” sheds a bright light on the new Jacuzzihidive, and is quite simply just that! Something Good.
After spending the latter part of 2011 mixing the tracks JHD recorded at Odds On Recordings multi-million dollar facility in Las Vegas and still not quite getting the results they were seeking, JHD opted to record brand new songs completely DIY in their small studio of the past 3 years (Lab 29), which was perched on the top floor of a building overlooking the Vegas strip. As of early May, Jacuzzihidive relocated and are now based out of Los Angeles. With plans on finishing up the new record by July, expect a stellar late summer release with following tour dates.
“Something Good” was recorded and mixed during the month of April. All the music and instruments played are 100% real, 100% analog, sample-free, auto-tune free, and are the first JHD recordings where lead vocalist Aily Iglesias and multi-instrumentalist Aram Luc share main vocal duties. The new record includes contributions from a growing collective of talented friends such as Macario Gutierrez Jr, Andrew Frechtman, Scott Valladares, and Josh Seno.Add a comment

Section’s 3rd remix ep of 2011 brings fresh interpretations of the classic tripswitch cut “collider”, originally released on the “illuminations” compilation on youth’s liquid sound label in 2006. A fat breaks track peppered with tribal percussion, violin & sasha-esque synths, the track was an instant hit with those in the know, & section is happy to be able to answer 4 years of requests for a single release with a remastered version & an awesome package of re-licks from another dream list of producers.
Godfather of progressive house Nick Warren delivers an exquisitely-produced groover for mix 1, that’s so hypnotic it leaves you wondering what planet you’ve been on for the past 9 minutes! fragments of vocals, violin & percussion build over a tribal bed of beats & a ribcage-rattling dub bassline, testament to warren’s production skills & understanding of dancefloor dynamics.
New zealand masters of minimal fiord bring us a deep, rolling, groovy-ass tech-house workout for mix 2. chunky & brooding, stripped-down & minimal, but never losing momentum, this stylish mix is sure to be moving the punters on festival stages across the globe this summer.
Section favourite Aurtas turns the mood on its head with an upbeat, strictly house rework for mix 2. Positive, accessible & unmistakably aurtas, this mix gives another taster of what to expect from the aurtas album coming on section later in the year.
Richard Kegg aka Purple pulls the track back to its moody roots with a psychedelic growler that twists the original sounds in brutal ways, creating a glitched-up trance belter of supreme quality. another sure-fire festival fixture this summer!
for mix 5, Seb Taylor (Shakta, digitalis, kaya project, hibernation) gives section one of the rare & sought-after productions under his tech-house alias ‘Biotone’. Throbbing its way along on four to the floor beats which shuffle deliciously on the verge of breakbeat, the original is mashed up but instantly recognisable amid a perfect storm of classic taylor fx, drops & cut-ups.
closing the ep, label boss nick brennan provides another codemonkey re-rub, delivering a super-deep dubstep version that’s more spacious than an estate agent’s imagination! Minimal two-step beats combine with electrostatic atmospheres & mechanical percussion to pull you through an intense combination of etherial pads & dub fx, taking your ears to dark and unchartered waters.
