Tomy Omnibot : 1980s Robot = Happiness
Omnibot,1980s super toy, has to be the coolest toy out of the 1980s except the Nintendo 8 Bit NES. I especially like the picture of the robot carrying a mixed drink and could only imagine that it was more of an adult novelty than really a kid’s toy. When I was a kid, I remember staring at the Omnibot in the Toys R Us case, fantasizing how my life would be different if I owned a robot – which I believed to be imbued with more powers than just a remote controlled tape deck.

1 commentMagnetic Celadon: Experimental Music & Circuit Bending

The Magnetic Celadon was the first show I did with Brian Hawley & Chad Martinez when I moved to Las Vegas 6 years ago, which featured experimental music, art, & film in a warehouse in North Las Vegas. Magnetic Celadon was known for bringing artists and fans who were into circuit bending, which is the art of taking toys and turning them into new instruments. It was a no age event that seemed to attract artists, musicians, and fellow misfits whose result was the Lvexperimental Arts Collective & Indie Krush. The LV Experimental Arts Collective disbanded after Aaron Thompson decided to devote more time to writing and music & we pushed Indie Krush forward with our first event at Rawk N Java, when it still was a Christian Coffee house.

Teddy Ruxpin, that 80s toy, that is being currently messed with by an updated version, would make the perfect DJ accessory. How cool would be if you ran two RCA outs into this toy’s input jack and his mouth moved to the music? You could even dress him up in a different outfit and put your DJ name on his chest for a laugh. You know all the women of the club would think you are sensitive and quirky [Nudge Nudge]. Instead of a DJ outfit to make up for your lack of personality, it is time to get sexy with Teddy Ruxpin at the club and drop the Furby.

1 comment1980s Vintage Boom Boxes : Retro Home Decor
When I was a little kid, I loved looking at the wall of Boom Boxes in the urban electronics store, especially the ones with the flashing lights. There were those few occasions when I even saw some break dancers with a box just like this in the city. I think any of these displayed in your room or home, would surely convince your friends of your hipness. Don’t even bother with getting an upgraded version of one of these at Urban Outfitters with an Ipod slot, unless you want to be a poseur.

No commentsIn Concert 3D This Weekend : Gogol Bordello
This weekend Inconcert 3D presents Dave Mathews & Gogol Bordello in 3D, which I am not sure has ever been done before for a concert. I have seen Gogol Bordello twice in Las Vegas and I would not be surprised to see something funny in 3D. The only thing disappointing is that most of the bands I would love to see in 3D are not commercially viable enough for them to create a film for them – we can hope. When considering a concert costs $60 bucks or more, 3D concerts are the answer to a good time – just don’t forget to sneak some booze into the theatre for the total experience. They gave me a pair of tickets for anyone in Las Vegas that want to attend this weekend along with a free poster for whoever comments first.

2 commentsKe$ha Rape Charges ? : Young Men Come Forward With Allegations
Recently young LA men involved in the indie electro scene are coming forward with rape allegations against Ke$ha. Ke$ha, LA indie electro hip hop artist, who is quickly moving up the billboard charts with lyrics that confirm the following: “I don’t care where u live at, just turn around boy and let me hit that, don’t be a little bitch with your chit chat, just show me where your dicks at.” One individual interviewed at a LA event had this to say : “I am a small guy, I wear women’s skinny jeans. I felt violated and cried many of nights, while watching TV thinking about the things Ke$ha did to me.” Her publicist did not return our phone calls for comment. Sike or maybe not.
