No commentsMark Ryden The Gay Nineties NY Show April 29th 2010
Run to the Paul Kasmin Gallery and beg for an opening invitation to Mark Ryden’s “The Gay Nineties The Olde Tyme Art Show” show because it will be incredibly packed. Even if you receive an invitation, you better be there at least an hour before the door opens, so you get the ability to soak in Mark Ryden’s new show like bread in a cosmic soup. I have never heard of Mark Ryden signing any of his prior books or prints – but bring them just in case. I have only seen one painting by Mark Ryden close up and I can report it is worth any price of admission to a movie or nightclub because it is aesthetically emotionally moving.

This Mori Chack Gloomy Bear Muzzle Harness Edition by Kid Robot is awesomly cute and morbid; and belongs on my toy shelf. You can pick up for $30 dollars at Kid Robot, but I sure wish I could go all the way to Japan to get it signed.

No commentsShepard Fairey “Eye Alert” Limited Print : Don’t Tell On The Plutocracy
OBEY unveils its latest print entitled the “Eye Alert” produced in a limited run of only 350 prints – the piece is hand numbered and signed by Shepard, measuring in at 18″ x 24″. It is only $45 USD which is certainly a bargain, the print looks to go on sale today through the OBEY online store. How dare Shepard Fairey tear down the plutocracy by selling prints or is it laughably ironic?

1 commentYouth In Revolt Movie Review: Revenge Of The Nerds!
“What are you willing to do for the girl of your dreams?” In Michael Ceras’ new film ” Youth in Revolt “, he shows us what his character Nick will do for love. Directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl), based on a novel by C.D. Payne and working from a screen play by Gustin Nash ( Charlie Bartlett ). This film will grab the nerd in you. With smart and witty dialog and an alter ego that gives Cera his first new roll since ….um well this is the first time he has played something different from his characters in Arrested Development or Juno; ever. You have to go see what happens when the seemingly sweet christian girl Sheeni ( Portia Doubleday ) finds a way out of her trailer park life through her new friend Nick ( Cera ), who needs the help of bad boy Francois ( Cera ), to make both of their dreams come true.

No comments1980s Vintage Boom Boxes : Retro Home Decor
When I was a little kid, I loved looking at the wall of Boom Boxes in the urban electronics store, especially the ones with the flashing lights. There were those few occasions when I even saw some break dancers with a box just like this in the city. I think any of these displayed in your room or home, would surely convince your friends of your hipness. Don’t even bother with getting an upgraded version of one of these at Urban Outfitters with an Ipod slot, unless you want to be a poseur.

No commentsIn Concert 3D Review : You Must Go See Lollapalooza 3D In Febuary
In Concert 3D as a new way to experience concerts has been thrust to the top of my lists as a must catch on the weekend, as long as the entertainment matches your listening preferences. When I caught it this weekend, Gogol Bordello was the opening band and by far the best performance in 3D. When the camera angle was behind the drum kit and looking out into the audience or when it was from the audiences perspective – these were the moments when you thought “Holy shit this is awesome”. There are more concerts planned in the future but they are a limited run with only two theatres in Vegas able to accommodate these events. Lollapalooza 2009 in 3D is coming sometime in February so mark your calendars.

No commentsRebel8 Frisco Disco Streetwear

Rebel 8, San Francisco streetwear company, has some large print shirts that draw inspiration from skating, tattoos, and punk rock music. There graphics do not incorporate too many colors but the design is simple ans symbolic – not trying to convey too much on the shirt. They also have some bad ass scarfs, jackets, and hats that are worth checking out as well.
