Say What?! F**K Paris! September 27th Beauty Bar

Sunday September 21st Beauty Bar Show Review
On Sunday 21st three great bands showed how Vegas should be for locals, leaving everyone with open eyes and happy to know that they did not miss out. Datcon Encoda a local band from Las Vegas have a great sound, which by the way does not sound like Muse or a fake electro band. The Veils, a amazinly cool indie band from New Zealand got everyone’s feet moving. During the show Laim Finn with Ej on back ups jump on stage and awe the crowd, playing drums, bass, guitar, and singing, just showing what Vegas is missing. They also gave a acoustic set playing “Gather to the Chapel” a song of his album “I’ll Be Lightning.”

Free Tickets For X-Fest Next Weekend October 4th Downtown

On Saturday, October 4, 2008 “X-Fest! Las Vegas” — downtown’s largest, all-ages, outdoor rock festival – will bring a galaxy of top alternative, reggae, pop, rockabilly and whacked hip-hop entertainment to a six block festival grounds in the new Fremont East Entertainment District.
Pepper, Reverend Horton Heat, Kottonmouth Kings, The Vandals, Stevie B, Richard Vission, Biz Markie and Vanilla Ice to Headline along with a total of 30 bands!

A.i. Interview
How did you guys decide on the name A.i?
- (Zack)I came up with while reading an article about Artificial Intelligence in a magazine in the waiting room of my dentist’s office and it just stuck. Today you hear about Artificial Intelligence all the time, but at that time it was very new. The name to us represents the human & the machine, the organic and the synthetic which is a big part of our sound. At that time, our keyboardist was Pablo Manzarek (Ray Manzarek’s son) and he would bring over his dads synthesizers and we would take psychedelics and jam with samplers and wave synths and electronic drums…eventually the jamming evolved into us needing a name…A.i.!!!
What bands or artists in your local community inspire you?
- (Nick) Our good friend Chris Vrenna (original drummer and founding member of NIN) produced our first album, we’ve always been friends since and I got to sing on his last solo album “2am wake up call” (Tweaker) that featured Robert Smith among others. He’s now working on Marilyn Manson’s new album. Also, Money Mark (keyboardist for the Beasties) is really under rated…we did our first tour with him and have always been close…he’s had a huge influence on modern music in a huge way. Right across from our studio, Zack de la Rocha is working on his One Day As Lion side project… they started off just jamming and making weird noises across the hall and its cool to see how its evolved into these high raw energy songs. In the hall next door to them is a good friend of mine, Brendan Hawkins, who’s working on Perry Ferrell’s new album. Our studio is kind of a Utopia of awesome artists…I love being there and writing and jamming!
Who throws the best parties in your town?
- (Nick) Our good friends Woven have been throwing some killer parties at their warehouse The Cat Toy Factory. Its actually a real cat toy factory that they morph into a very nice sexy time…I always have a great time there!

AltaRevere
Alta Revere, a Las Vegan band, describes themselves as a state of mind. They also state that their sound is original and has an underground following that is rapidly growing. To honestly tell you, I agree! The vocals; along with the guitar riffs create a satisfying sound. If you don’t agree, I suggest you should check them out and prove me wrong. We’re excited to have them in the line up for this month’s Say What!? party on Sept. 27th!

Mr_Peaches: Won’t Stop Can’t Stop

- What sets you apart from other djs? My mixes are always very eclectic. I like to throw in a variety of songs from Hard House, Booty Bass, Hip-Hop, even Drum & Bass, mixed in with the current Electro & House shizzle. I also re-edit a lot of songs I use, so I have some personal touch on what I’m playing. Another thing that sets me apart is that I’m not a zombie behind a laptop screen, meaning I tend to dance and jump around a lot. I also like to get the crowd participating, so sometimes I’ll get on the mic and say a bunch of random gibberish.

What do you do on your down time? Well since I have a day job and go to school at night, I really don’t have all that much time to do anything except hang out with my wonderful girlfriend Katie. During the late night hours I like to edit/remix tracks on my Sony Acid software. And I also do a weekly internet radio show called DANCE OUTFIT on beatloungeradio. com, every Tuesday from 6-8 PM(PST).Check it out: myspace. com/danceoutfit

I asked Erik and Dave how DMNDAYS got started.
“Dave and I used to play in hardcore metal bands and used to be in a band together. When that broke up, I had decided to pick up djying since it was something I had always somewhat of an interest in. We partnered up then entered the Miss TK and The Revenge remix contest for the track,”No Biterz”. We were lucky enough to win and things have been picking up from there.” -Erik
