1980s Skateboard Stickers : Graphic Design Gold

March 28th, 2009 | Category: Visual Arts/Design

gonz

Graphic Designers can find lots of inspiration at this retro skateboard sticker graphic site.  Powell, Santa Cruz, and Vision are my favorites here.  Ed Banger and Jack Beats are some people I can think of on the top of mind who incorporate these old skateboard logo designs.  The site even goes as far as telling you the year the graphic was issued and even lets you do a little shopping.

Smurfette First Octomom : Papa Smurf First Pimp

March 27th, 2009 | Category: Events/Parties, Random Lifestyle

smurfette_then_and_now

Smurfette, which gave birth to the litter of smurfs that  populate the hidden village was the first Octomom.  Papa Smurf created Smurfette with the sorrid purpose of entertaining the other smurfs and breeding a new line of smurf to defeat evil Gargamel. If you don’t believe that, than why is their only one female smurf.  This follows the question about why Snow White would live with 7 male drawfs.  The more you know, the better you will feel.

Bloodly Beetroots WxAxRxP Video Controversy

March 27th, 2009 | Category: Music

WxAxRxP from Francesco Calabrese on Vimeo.

The Bloodly Beetroots WxAxRxP Video controversy of whether the music  or the video’s corporate branding has jumped the shark can be seen by reading over 50 comments on Big Stereo.  The purpose of a music label is to promote their artists, however this video seems to promote Dim Mak more than Bloody Beetroots.  The song to me is more of a snippet of a track than a completed track which confuses the viewer into whether this is a video for Bloody Beetroots or Steve Aoki.

Bass & Treble: Spring Mix 2009

March 25th, 2009 | Category: DJ Mixes, Mp3's, Music

spring-mix

Bass and Treble is back with a new mix after a break from the deejaying scene.  “It’s been four months since I did the Acid Talk Mix and quite honestly, I was really happy with how it turned out.  I figured I’d let the music do the work and inevitably, toes start tapping, hips start moving, heads start bobbing..and before you can look up, everyone’s dancing. Liberation is Contagious.”

Saks Fifth Avenue: Old School Soviet Campaign

March 25th, 2009 | Category: Visual Arts/Design

saks-bags

One wouldn’t think Saks Fifth Avenue bags would be  more  than a functioning of piece of art. Saks Fifth Avenue and Shepard Fairy teamed up for their Spring 2009 shopping bags. For those not so familiared with Fairey, he created the infamous Obama Hope artwork.  I have seen these bags floating around The Forum Shops and haven’t seen anything like it.
