Database-Live! Tuesday March 23rd

March 18th, 2010 | Category: Events/Parties, Mp3's, Music

Currently on tour and trekking across North America, Brazil’s Database of Southern Fried Records (Fatboy Slim, Crookers) will be making a stop in Vegas and performing at downtown’s premier hotspot, Beauty Bar. Chances are this may be your first time hearing about them, but don’t let it dissuade you from the fact that they are a definite must see. In Brazil, they’ve played some of the country’s biggest festivals, including TIM ‘08 (with the Klaxons, Kanye West, MGMT, Junior Boys) Haagen Dazs Mix Music Festival ‘08 (Uffie, Feadz, Yuksek, The Glimmers and VHS or Beta), Fashion Week as well as appearances on MTV Brazil, and other major festivals.

Today Database is one of the biggest electronic names in Brazil. Recently co-writing a single with Brooklyn’s French Horn Rebellion called “Beaches & Friends,” not to mention sharing an unbelievable roster with the rest of the artists represented by industry top-dogs, Windish Agency (Z-Trip, Miike Snow, DJ Mehdi, Fever Ray).

In support of Database, Jacuzzi Hi-Dive will also be doing their debut live performance, with the addition of newest member Jose Torres. Down and Derby resident DJ, Shr3d will also be in attendance holding it down on the 1’s & 2’s. With so many tough choices on any given weekend night here in Las Vegas, It’s due time for something to look forward to early in the week. This coming Tuesday we’ll party like it’s Friday!

King Fantastic : Gangsta Electro & Music Paradigm Shift

March 17th, 2010 | Category: Mp3's, Music

kf-logo-b

The King Fantastic, new project by Killer Reese One and Troublemaker, combines electro and synthesizer together with some gangsta rhymes.  It makes me wonder by the amount of side projects that Troublemaker does if the future of music is to start small music side projects with a few songs, a website, and some good promo; and see what the results are and than move on to the next one.  You would think that this would be counter intuitive, because you would need marketing to constantly develop new brands, but people and bloggers will find the music and spread the gospel.

Tomy Omnibot : 1980s Robot = Happiness

March 14th, 2010 | Category: Random Lifestyle

220px-Tomy_omnibot

Omnibot,1980s super toy, has to be the coolest toy out of the 1980s except the Nintendo 8 Bit NES.  I especially like the picture of the robot carrying a mixed drink and could only imagine that it was more of an adult novelty than really a kid’s toy.  When I was a kid, I remember staring at the Omnibot in the Toys R Us case, fantasizing how my life would be different if I owned a robot – which I believed to be imbued with more powers than just a remote controlled tape deck.
