Our favorite indie/post-disco/pop troubadours are back with a new release! Jacuzzihidive returns with a refreshingly refined sound, employing a bit more a organic vibe, riding a high of shimmering vintage synth, guitar arrangements, and grooved-out rhythms perfect for ushering in the summertime. A slight departure from their 2010 release of Night Creatures, their new Single+B-Side “Something Good” sheds a bright light on the new Jacuzzihidive, and is quite simply just that! Something Good.
After spending the latter part of 2011 mixing the tracks JHD recorded at Odds On Recordings multi-million dollar facility in Las Vegas and still not quite getting the results they were seeking, JHD opted to record brand new songs completely DIY in their small studio of the past 3 years (Lab 29), which was perched on the top floor of a building overlooking the Vegas strip. As of early May, Jacuzzihidive relocated and are now based out of Los Angeles. With plans on finishing up the new record by July, expect a stellar late summer release with following tour dates.
“Something Good” was recorded and mixed during the month of April. All the music and instruments played are 100% real, 100% analog, sample-free, auto-tune free, and are the first JHD recordings where lead vocalist Aily Iglesias and multi-instrumentalist Aram Luc share main vocal duties. The new record includes contributions from a growing collective of talented friends such as Macario Gutierrez Jr, Andrew Frechtman, Scott Valladares, and Josh Seno.Add a comment
I fucking love Designer Drugs. Seriously. And their remix of Flou, which btw, I CANNOT stop listening to, is just another reason why I love them. If you haven’t heard them, whoa. Where have you been? They just get it right. Every time.

The Very Most is heartfelt indie pop band from Boise, Idaho. They carefully construct songs rich in melody and substance.
You can tell a lot of time and thought goes into their writing and recording process (none of which is wasted, as far as I’m concerned). They even toy with midi programing here and there and maintain a folk sincerity.
I will say they are in the same league as Apples In Stereo, Shout Out Louds, and I’m From Barcelona and deserve the same notoriety. At the very least, The Very Most deserve a listen. *I predict that last line will get old fast, if it isn’t already.

Brooklyn’s Santogold has been shakin’ things up on the music scene. She has mainly been compared to M.I.A. but No Way. She definitely has her own style. In this awesome interview below, Santogold talks about her musical style and influences.
Here are some amazing tracks from her self-titled debut awesome. These are just a tease. If you don’t already have it…GET IT! Especially the track “Shove It” (feat. Spank Rock) which I did not put on here so you would buy it!

Last night I had the opportunity to see one of my VERY favorite bands: Bonde do Role. In Gainesville (FL) of all places. (shocking I know) I was excited and nervous to see their performance bc their lead female vocalist Marina left the band in December. And on the album she works it out!
First things first: opening band: The Death Set
To sum them up: crazy, screaming, mad energy, two drummers. I personally thought it would be cooler if they had two drummers with one arm so that they could be like “Take that Def Leppard!”, but ya win some, ya lose some. Overall: A
OK! BONDE DO ROLE!
No longer 2 guys(Gorky & Pedro) and 1 girl. Now they have added Laura and Ana (who apparently were added to the band through some contest in Brazil). 2 guys + 2 girls= VERBAL CRAZINESS!!! It was insane. The parts that Marina used to sing are now split amongst Ana and Laura with Ana singing the lead more often. She killed it. They all did.
There was nonstop dancing, grinding, silly string, water splashing, sick beats…pure Brazilian craziness at its best. One of the most hilarious moments during the show was a segment called “Let’s teach Ana English”. Being the classy American’s that we are the suggestions were: Pussy, BTFU (yeah, that’s right), I want weed, and my personal favorite “There’s something sexy about Hannah Montana”, yeah for realz, which led to random shouts of Haaannaaah Montaaana throughout the show. Pretty much, I want a shirt that says: BRAZILIANS DO IT BETTER.

So… our girl M.I.A. was at Coachella on April 26th. Here is some audience footage of her performance of “Hussel” and “Paper Planes.”
And while I’m thinking of it…
I can’t help but admit that I was overcome with an inexplicable emotion, when I found my beloved M.I.A. in a brightly colored two-page spread for non-other than Marc f’n Jacobs. Actually, I guess what I was feeling was a sense of genuine satisfaction… it made me smile.
M.I.A. is creative, talented, sexy, has one the sickest, most unique sounds I’ve ever heard and is, for the most part, still fairly underground. The styling of the photos is completely fresh. She looks chic, and completely maintains her personal style.
I know… I know, you already have these remixes of “Paper Planes”, right?

Cut Copy is back with, “In Ghost Colours,” their long overdue follow up to 2004’s Bright Like Neon Love. Seriously, this album is the shit. And if you don’t have it you should.
This one track, “Far Away,” is “hairmest” ever (a.k.a. FUCKING AMAZING). This track has a lighter, dancier vibe, great lyrics (but seriously Whitford could sing the phonebook and I’d be loving it) and great early 90’s melodies. It’s like 1992 meets 2008… and it’s fucking sick!

The other stand out track, “Strangers in the Wind,” is completely different. It starts slow with that melancholic sound Cut Copy is known for… keep listening, as soon as the chorus kicks in, it’s on.

Did you know her name is a combination of yeah and elle? well you should.
TEPR’s remix of Je Veux Te Voir has been everywhere and with good reason, that is one seriously sick remix.
